Happy "Batman Day"!

Happy "Batman Day"!
No, this isn't one of those made up days like "Black Friday" or "Cyber Monday" that are created to promote pointless spending.
No this day marks the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the creation of Batman!

Whether you like the comics or a fan the films, I highly recommend visiting your local comic shop to get a free commemorative "DETECTIVE COMICS #27 SPECIAL EDITION", an updated take on the comic that first introduced Batman to the world. (See picture above). It contains all sorts of send-ups to Batman and several short comic strips, created by many different writers and artists, both old and new.

In the spirit of Batman there are some interesting reads that I strongly recommend anyone needing an introduction to the Batman comics should read- these are"The killing Joke" and "Batman: Arkham Asylum".

"The Killing Joke" is a well written (by Alan Moore no less) and intriguing portrait of Batman's greatest villain - The Joker - and his relationship with Batman.
What follows is a dark take on the possible origin of the Joker and an attempt to force Batman to finally kill the Joker after one deeply depraved scheme. The tale ends with a punchline that will still hang with you long after you have finished reading.

"Batman: Arkham Asylum" take to that deeply depressing and ominous place that all of Batman's rouges gallery end up - Batman: Arkham Asylum.
The story follows Batman as he ventures deeper and deeper into the hellhole asylum as he face many of his greatest villains. Its a great piece that gives some brilliant depth the mythos of the batman universe.

So see you next time readers and happy 'Batman Day'!
